Currently, the U.S. government has several climate policies and initiatives, many of which impact and can often benefit homeowners. The United States government policy to address climate change consists of three main components:
· Slow the growth of emissions
· Strengthen science, technology, and institutions
· Enhance international cooperation
Though strengthening science and technology and enhancing international cooperation are mainly governmental endeavors, slowing the growth of emissions is something every person and every home can do. Currently, the government is using voluntary and incentive-based programs to reduce emissions.
